Customized Pottery Orders
*under construction - details subject to change*
Design Fee
In order to make sure that you are getting the design you are looking for, we will have a few conversations discuss your needs. A PDF of your logo will be required in order to begin the design process.
Once we agree on the style/look of the design, a one time $40 design fee will be charged to your order. Any subsequent orders using the same design will not be subject to the design fee. We will hold all designs for 1 year after the last order. If you have a lapse in ordering lasting more than I year, a new screen and $40 design fee will be applied to your next order.
Custom Design Process
In order to achieve a clear image on your pottery, we take your PDF and make a screen to use in the screen printing process on the clay body. Using the screen and underglaze, we will transfer an exact replica of your image to your pieces. This allows us to be exact and concise when creating your custom pieces. Because the screen is reusable, we can use it for future orders. All logos/designs will be saved for 1 year after last order. If you have a lapse in order lasting more than 1 year, a new screen along with the $40 design fee will need to be made in order to re-open your custom design.
Fulfillment Times
Processing times can vary. Typically, a two to six week turn around is sufficient to get orders out of the door. There are instances in which it can take longer to process your order. Kilned with Kindness will be in contact with your order shipment and any changes that may occur.
Why does it take so long to get an order?
Everything that is made in our studio is processed by one potter and completely handmade with out the use of molds, jiggers or machines. We always strive to create quality pieces that meet our own standards as well as yours. Sometimes quality takes longer but it is worth the wait.
Besides creating handmade custom items in her home studio, artist Summer Brendlinger also teaches at a local maker space in Oregon. Contributing to her community takes her out of her home studio which is one reason orders can take a little longer.
Summer loves taking special orders and processes a great number throughout the year. All ordered pieces go through a variety of steps in order to get it finished and out the door to your home. Each step requires different amounts of time, from a week of drying, two days of firing in the kiln (x2 firings) and additional processing time in between.
As a small business, we know our limitations and have a high regard for clarity of communication. We will always strive to give you an honest estimation of time and if something interferes with an originally given delivery time, we will reach out to you immediately. Outside circumstances that can cause a delay of any order are interferences such as kiln repairs, breakage and time of year the order is placed. If our timing is a challenge for you, consider ordering during the slower season, January through March.
Shipping and Delivery
Shipping and Breakage: Not near Southern Oregon? Not a problem, we can ship! We use USPS or UPS services for all our shipping purposes and insure the packages for more than the value of the order.
We also highly encourage using the additional Route insurance for any shipped order, which is a third-party insurance company who makes insurance claims quick & simple. In order for you to utilize this option, your order will need to be paid in full (so that Route knows the full value of your order’s items), and will need to be divided into orders no more than $1,000 each (with roughly $20 of Route Insurance per order) to ensure full coverage.
Please let us know before we send an invoice if you require shipping when placing the order. Handling charges will apply for shipped orders – roughly $1-2 per piece – to ensure that your investment is wrapped & ready for shipping. Buyer is responsible for the cost of the shipping label(s) & any insurance claims that may be needed.

Returns and Refunds
Returns for custom orders are not accepted due to the nature of the orders. There will be communication throughout the process, ensuring that you are happy with the design and the product prior to creating your order. Once the order is in process there is little to no room for altering the order.
